The Hedgehog Fairway Protectors are incredible at eliminating the damage which can be made to golf courses by standard wheels, avoiding the need for clubs to introduce trolley bans. Normal flat golf trolley wheels are generally banned over the winter period due to what is known as "Compaction and smearing". The larger the surface area of the flat wheels compacts the ground and, because of a lack of grip, they also skid and cause damage - particularly where teeing areas and greens are exited.
